Abstract
We report the first successful attempt at the time-dependent nonperturbative calculation of multiphoton ionization and above threshold ionization in the presence of several open channels leaving the ion in excited states. After an outline of the theoretical approach based on a discretized basis constructed in terms of -splines, we also present illustrative results on atomic magnesium.
