Abstract
We report experimental evidence of novel kinds of patterns—zigzag destabilized spirals and targets. They have been found in a planar dc driven semiconductor–gas discharge system. Comparison of these patterns with conventional spirals and targets that can form in the same system allows one to conclude that the observed phenomena are specific for large amplitude structures of pattern forming media. Keywords
