Abstract
A brief survey of the basic detector materials used in the more important infrared detector technologies including thermal, platinum silicide related, low-dimensional solid, and photon is given with the emphasis on the significance of their material aspects. The main thrust of the paper, however, considers recent advances in the materials aspects of mercury cadmium telluride (MCT) and includes work on low temperature growth, p-type doping, and substrates.Keywords
