Multiple Scattering Equation for Two Particle-One Hole System and Generalized Vertex in Core Polarization of Nuclei. III: Effective Interactions

Abstract
The two particle-one hole (2p1h) multiple-scattering formalism is applied to calculating the effective interactions in A=17 and 18 nuclei using a double-counting-free G-matrix. The core polarization is treated in various ways and contributions from different correlations are studied. The net core-polarization effect to the one-body interaction is found rather insensitive to the particle-hole correlations in contrast to the cases of the polarization charge and the two-body interaction. The energy spectra of A=18 nuclei are evaluated by using the obtained two-body interaction. Our final result gives the energy spectra which keep the character of the 2nd order result ([3p1h]) and are in somewhat better agreement with experimental spectra than the [3p1h]. Elimination of the “spurious” centre-of-mass excitation has a crucial role. Exchange p-h scattering and p-p scattering are both important as well as direct p-h scattering.
