Abstract
A radiofrequency inductively coupled plasma discharge in argon has been employed as an excitation source for the study of the spectrum of atomic sulphur produced on introduction of low concentrations of sulphur dioxide into the discharge. Several previously unassigned lines in the observed spectrum have been attributed to transitions occurring in the SI atom from stable states above the 4S32/0 first ionisation limit. Keywords
