Total Dislocation of the Talus

Abstract
Nine cases of complete dislocation of the talus have been reviewed. Reduction of the talus after the severe injury is thought to be fruitless in most cases, leading to many mouths or years of disability because of the frequency of infection and loss of vascular supply to the talus. A more aggressive approach using talectomy and some type of tibial calcaneal arthrodesis as part of the initial treatment is suggested.
