Abstract
The dimer [{Ru(η3:η3–C10H16)(µ–Cl)Cl}2]1(C10H16= 2,7-dimethyloctadienediyl) reacts with benzothiazole-2-thiol and pyridine-2-thiol and pyridine-2-thiol to give, as intital products, [Ru(η3:η3-C10H16)(SNC7H4SH-2)Cl2]2 and [Ru(η3:η3-C10H16)(NC5H4SH–2)Cl2]4 respectively. Intermolecular loss of HCl from complexes 2 and 4 leads to the formation of [Ru(η3:η3-C10H16)(SNC7H4S-2)Cl]3 and [Ru(η3:η3-C10H16)(NC5H4S-2)Cl]5 respectively. Complex 1 reacts with sodium dithiocarbamate to from [Ru(η3:η3-C10H16)(S2CNEt2)Cl]6 directly. Complexes 3 and 5 react with MeCN in the presence of silver salts to from [Ru(η3:η3-C10H16)-(SNC7H4S-2)(NCMe)][BF4]7 and [Ru(η3:η3-C10H16)(NC5H4S-2)(NCMe)][PF6]8 respectively. The X-ray structure of 3[space group P21(no. 4), a= 11.627(3), b= 17.961(4), c= 8.206(3)Å, β= 90.21(2)°, Z= 4] is reported. Keywords
