Abstract
In a group of 21 patients with porencephalia proved by air studies, prolonged electroencephalographic follow-up was studied in 8 subjects. The EEGs [electroencephalograms] showed progressive deterioration both in area involved and in type of electrical disturbances in 7 patients. In 1 the abnormal EEG returned to an almost normal record. A close correlation exists between the electroencephalographic evolution and the clinical progression. The prognostic value of the evolution of the electrical abnormalities is mentioned. The theoretical basis of the evolution of the described electroencephalographic abnormalities is discussed. Keywords
