Abstract
Summary This paper deals briefly with the need for data on creep and shrinkage of concrete at elevated temperatures. Tests designed to determine the Poisson's effect under combined stresses on heated concrete are described and it is shown that an effective Poisson's ratio of 0·2 can be assumed for design purposes. General conclusions regarding creep at elevated temperatures have been drawn from tests on sealed and unsealed slab specimens at elevated temperatures. Keywords
