Abstract
The Shell Development borehole gravimeter is an instrument which utilizes as a measure of gravity the frequency of a chosen mode of vibration of a string supporting a freely suspended mass. The instrument, which is capable of determining differences in gravity between stations to one milligal or better, has been in semiroutine use by Shell for over two years. The most common application of such a meter, the determination of average densities for intervals of the order of one thousand feet, is illustrated by data from several wells. Keywords
