Abstract
Phase transitions in O(n) nonlinear sigma models coupled to an Abelian gauge field are studied near two dimensions. For all n>0, the transition is governed by the renormalisation-group fixed point of the CP2n-1 model. There is no fluctuation-induced first-order transition. Keywords
