Reactions (Li7,Li7), (Li7,Li6), and (Li7,He6) on the deformed targetMg24atELi7=34MeV

Abstract
Angular distributions for the single nucleon transfer reactions Mg24(Li7, Li6)Mg25 and Mg24(Li7, He6)Al25 have been measured to study the effects of target deformation on heavy-ion transfer reactions at ELi7=34 MeV. Elastic and inelastic scattering angular distributions have also been measured for Li7 + Mg24 at the same energy. Optical model fits to the elastic scattering data were good in the diffraction region, but they overestimated the cross section at forward angles. Coupled channels calculations, which coupled the ground and first excited states of Mg24 with Li7 in its ground state, yielded deformation lengths that are in agreement with those obtained from light-ion scattering measurements. The single nucleon transfer data were compared to exact finite range distorted wave Born approximation calculations. While the extracted spectroscopic factors are in reasonable agreement with those obtained from light-ion works, the calculations are out of phase with the data. Parameter variations by as much as 20% did not resolve this problem. The cross sections for transitions to the j-forbidden 72+ (1.61 MeV) states in Al25 and Mg25 were smaller relative to the allowed transitions than observed in corresponding light-ion single nucleon transfer reactions.
