Abstract
The spin-parity assignment of the 10.9 MeV resonance in 16O+12C has been remeasured and a new value, Jpi =5-, determined. The implications of the new assignment are discussed in terms of fragmentating of resonances due to the rotation-vibration coupling in 28Si.Keywords
