Low temperature ellipsometry of NaV2O5
Abstract
The dielectric function of NaV2O5 was measured for the a and b axes, in the energy range 0.8-4.5 eV, and down to 4K. The corresponding peaks at about 1 eV in the optical conductivities show a pronounced intensity decrease upon increasing temperature. We assign this behavior to collective charge redistribution, namely the redistribution of the electrons among the rungs resulting in double occupation of some rungs as temperature increases, with an activation energy of about 25meV.Keywords
