Analytical investigation of the polaron problem

Abstract
Analytical approximations for the ground state energy of the polaron and for its effective mass are obtained throughout the entire range of the electron-phonon interaction constant. The detailed structure of the phase transition in the polaron system is considered on the basis of these results. Numerical calculations corroborate the analytical conclusions.Keywords
