Acoustoelastic Response of Unidirectional Fiber Composites

Abstract
The paper deals with the problem of determining the change in wave velocities in uni directional fiber reinforced composites due to applied or residual processing stresses. A simple averaging scheme is described to compute effective properties relating increments in average Lagrangian stresses and displacement gradients over a representative volume el ement due to small disturbances over the prestressed state. Computed wave velocities are compared with test data obtained during temperature cycling reported in literature.
