An analytical proof for the generation of higher harmonics due to the interaction of plane electromagnetic waves

Abstract
An analytical proof is given for the existence of higher harmonics in the Euler–Heisenberg Lagrangian for the limit of ultra-strong fields. The amplitudes of such harmonics are much greater than for the weak field case for the same wavelength. Experimental detection might be possible with the rapid development of electron synchrotrons and storage rings.
