Abstract
In this paper we present the basic design guidelines of a system able to assist a station-master in real-time planning and recovery of railway signalling systems. The system heavily uses the knowledge-based system technology. Its architecture is based on a blackboard model - implemented in Prolog- and the knowledge of railway signalling is explicitly stated in the system.
