High-spin states of theKπ=32+ and 12+bands ofNa23

Abstract
The C12(N15,α)Na23 reaction was used to populate high-spin states in Na23 for incident N15 Elab=36 to 39 MeV. Angular distributions of the reaction α particles were measured and energy averaged σ(θ)'s have been compared to Hauser-Feshbach calculations. We present suggestions for the high-spin members of the Kπ=32+ ground-state rotational band through the 212+ member and for the Kπ=12+ band through the 172+ member. The proposed spin assignments are in good agreement with shell model calculations.
