Abstract
Effect of lime addition on the properties of Portland cement has been studied by taking 1:9, 2:8, 3:7, 4:6, 5:5 and 6:4 lime/cement mixes. Setting time has been determined by taking neat cement and cement lime mixes. Workabilities, water retention values and strength have been determined by taking cement-lime-sand mortars. It was observed that lime acts as retarder and produces a more workable mass. Slight lowering in the strength values have been observed in the beginning which are regained with the age of the sample. Keywords
