Abstract
Tibial plateau fractures are frequently associated with ligamentous and meniscal injuries. The traditional method of evaluating these injuries for open surgery does not take into account the soft tissue component. When there is not extensive displacement of the fracture fragments, the goal of articular reconstruction and soft tissue repair can be achieved arthroscopically. Arthroscopic surgery is performed; all compartments of the knee are examined, and the articular surface is reduced, either with a probe in the joint or below through a transosseus window. Bone grafting is performed when necessary. The soft tissues are then repaired. Good results have been achieved with this method in selected cases. © Williams & Wilkins 1991.
