Abstract
A separation technique is described which is based on the observation by the authors, that the exclusion of cations by membranes with negatively charged groups (and vice versa for anions) is much greater for ions of high charge. As a result of this, ion transfer is much greater for monovalent than for di‐ and trivalent ions and, by cascading this effect, complete separations are possible. Smaller effects concerning ions of equal charge are also described. Keywords
