Abstract
Results are obtained for energy bands in layer compounds using the KKR method and including an ionic contribution to the lattice potential. These are compared with experimental data on densities of states from optical and photoemission data. The results show favourable agreement. A Fermi surface for NbSe2 is proposed. Keywords
