Disintegration of the Deuteron in a Coulomb Field

Abstract
The Coulomb disintegration of the deuteron is treated by means of perturbation theory. The breakup cross section is determined in the electric-dipole approximation. Total cross sections have been calculated for deuteron laboratory energies below 25 MeV and for target nuclei in the range 4Z92. The results of these calculations are compared with earlier theoretical estimates and recent experimental measurements.
