Abstract
The philosophy and design of a subsynchronous oscillation (SSO) relay are discussed. The relay utilizes a unique technique for detecting extremely low magnitudes of subsynchronous current. Special logic is used to determine if the currents represent a potential danger to a turbine-generator. A procedure for selecting relay settings is described. Keywords
