A direct linearization associated with the Benjamin-Ono equation

Abstract

The Benjamin‐Ono (BO) equation is a nonlinear singular‐integro‐differential equation which describes long gravity waves in a stratified fluid. A method of solution for the initial value problem of the BO equation is outlined which linearizes the BO equation.Eigenvalue, eigenfunctions, analyticity properties, time evolution, and soliton solutions are also analyzed.
