Abstract
Patients with the ophthalmopathic type of Graves'' disease (characterized by predominantly ocular symptoms, mild or absent thyrotoxic manifestations, normal or only slightly elevated basal metabolic rate, decrease in metabolic rate upon the adm. of I, absent or slight thyroid enlargement, positive blood and urinary thyrotropic assay) are shown to excrete more I from a 2 mgm or less test dose, and to take up less in the thyroid than patients with classic Graves'' disease. The urinary excretion can be used as a diagnostic aid in distinguishing the 2 types of patient. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
