Abstract
It was observed that during growth and maturation a sex difference in cholesteremia is revealed following puberty and this difference is associated with the variability of cholesteremia during the female estrous cycle. The highest female levels were found during the follicular phase of the cycle. A radioisotope technique was developed by which it was shown that this elevation is related more closely to an increased endogenous biosynthesis of cholesterol than to a difference in the rate of catabolism. Keywords
