Abstract
The single-particle density of states for a Dirac particle of zero mass confined in a spherical cavity is deduced. Corrections are then obtained to standard thermodynamic quantities due to the finite size of the cavity. Using the MIT bag model, the hadronic density of states is derived, and compared with the experimental mesonic spectrum. From the fit, it is found that MeV.
