Notes on the Ultrastructure of Zoospores of Sorosphaera veronicae

Abstract
This study was initiated to more fully characterize the zoospores of S. veronicae using EM and to compare them with other taxa in the Plasmodiophoromycetes. The most distinctive ultrastructural aspect of the S. veronicae zoospore is the morphology of the basal body which is longer than any described in aquatic fungi or other genera of Plasmodiophoromycetes. Unlike the zoospores of Plasmodiophora brassicae, zoospores of S. veronicae lack rows of dark specks, contain triplet microtubules and have terminal plates.
