Abstract
The Sharp and Hart equation for the calculation of total solids n milk from fat and lactometer readings was based on a comparison of the densities of milk and water when both were at 30[degree] C. If ordinary lactometer readings are substituted in the equation, the total solids will be about 3/4% too low. For use with ordinary lactometer readings made at 30[degree], the equation should be: Total solids = 1.2648 fat + 0.2594 (Q. + 3).This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
