Nuclear cross sections at high transverse energy

Abstract
Analysis of the ratios of nuclear to hadronic transverse-energy spectra and of central particle production vs numbers of participant nucleons shows that models of low-pt particle production not incorporating "energy conservation" provide good fits to the data at low Et or low A(A=4) but disagree strongly with the data at large Et and large A(A>~27), where the measurements are sensitive to large numbers of successive scatters.
