Abstract
The new lichen, Parmelia reptans, is described and shown to produce the depsidone, succinprotocetraric acid. This lichen acid has been characterized and identified as l'-carboxy-2',4-dihydroxy-6,6'-dimethyl-3-formyl-3'-succinoyloxymethyldepsidone. Succinprotocetraric acid has also been isolated from Chondropsis semiviridis and detected in several other lichen species by microchemical methods. Keywords
