Abstract
Testis tumor is not a common disease; it accounts for only 1.5% of all malignancies in males. Although it is uncommon, it is very significant because it is found most frequently in the young adult at an average age of 33 years. The fact that it threatens the life of the patient during his most productive years stresses the importance of the need for an aggressive approach to treatment in an effort to prolong the life of an individual whose contributions to his family and society are vital. In an effort to increase survival rates in patients with testis tumor, much effort has been put forth in the development of surgical techniques for the treatment of this disease. One such effort has been the development of retroperitoneal lymph node dissection. First, the unilateral approach was tried and then later a bilateral lymphadenectomy was developed.
