Abstract
(1) The occurrence of paratyphoid C infection in the Pacific region of Colombia, South America, is reported. (2) The strain belonged to the Eastern subtype of the Suipestifer (Hirschfeld) group of Salmonella, and was serologically identical with a representative strain found in British Guiana. (3) The disease would have been wrongly diagnosed as a case of subtertian malaria failing to respond to treatment if no blood culture had been made. Keywords
