Abstract
The DWBA theory of transfer reactions into the continuum is formulated in a way especially suited for the application to heavy-ion reactions in the presence of strong absorption and Coulomb forces. Recoil effects are treated in an approximate way. For reactions in the sub-Coulomb energy region, the accurate semiclassical approximation is introduced in order to simplify the numerical calculations. With the help of model calculations, essential features of neutron transfer reactions into the continuum are discussed. The j selectivity and the interference of resonances with the nonresonant background are considered. The 'l-enhancement' in transfer reactions are compared with elastic neutron scattering is demonstrated for different heavy-ion projectiles. Keywords
