Reclaiming Menstruation

Abstract
One aspect of the consciousness-raising which has occurred among Third World people, women and sexual minorities in the past decade has been the repossession of important, previously alienated parts of self and of common experience. They are recognizing the failure of dominant norms to reflect or value their subjective experience and special characteristics, and they are rejecting these disjunctive norms instead of continuing to accept them and the attendant feelings of inferiority, inadequacy, or craziness.
