Proximal Hamstring Release for Knee Flexion and Crouched Posture in Cerebral Palsy

Abstract
De was possible. However, increased lumbar lordosis developed in four and genu recurvatum, in seven. Total proximal release is, therefore, no longer recommended. Total release of the hamstrings from their origin was performed in thirty children. In the twenty-five who were available for review (fifty knees), the spastic knee-flexion deformity was corrected adequately; in most instances the crouch posture was corrected, gait was improved, and a longer stride was possible. However, increased lumbar lordosis developed in four and genu recurvatum, in seven. Total proximal release is, therefore, no longer recommended.
