Abstract
Beginning in 1985, an ACHA task force studied national health objectives to determine how well colleges and universities were achieving nationally defined health goals. The task force found that the college-aged population was not specifically recognized as a concern among health planners and that little consistent data on the health status of students existed. The task force worked closely with federal agencies in identifying relevant issues and focusing on the higher education community's commitment to disease promotion and positive health behaviors. Keywords
