Entomophthora Species with E. muscae-like Conidia

Abstract
Eleven taxa with "muscae-type" conidia (broadly ellipsoidal with a papillate apex and flattened base) have been named and described in the genus Entomophthora. Only five (E. culicus, E. erupta, E. muscae, E. planchoniana and E. weberi) are considered valid species and a key for their identification, based on their morphology and hosts (insect) is provided. The remaining six are considered to be synonyms of earlier described species: E. rimosa with E. culicis; E. pelliculosa, E. scatophagae, and E. syrphi with E. muscae; and E. chromaphidis and E. ferruginea with E. planchoniana.
