An apparatus with electrostatically driven vibrating condenser for contact potential measurements

Abstract
A sensitive contact potential measuring apparatus based on a novel form of electrostatic driving of the vibrating condenser is described. The apparatus permits contact potential difference measurements between a reference gold electrode and solid catalyst surfaces in vacuum or controlled gaseous atmospheres at different temperatures. The contact potential may be balanced to better than 1 mv.
