Abstract
When subjected to cyclic shear, sands exhibit dilatancy or densification and a highly nonlinear stress-strain relationship. The extent to which these phenomenons are manifested depends primarily on the relative density of the sand, the amplitude of the shear strain, and the state of stress. Keywords
