Abstract
The morphological diversity of the North American component of Trisetum spicatum was analyzed in an attempt to resolve taxonomic problems associated with inconsistent infraspecific treatments. Three-hundred and fifty specimens representing the North American distribution were measured for 33 morphological characters and the data were analyzed phenetically. The morphological data reveal extreme variation within the species and do not support the recognition of infraspecific taxa or the elevation of the hexaploids to specific rank. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
