Abstract
CLINICAL and epidemiological studies of risk factors for diabetic retinopathy in patients with type 1 diabetes have been conducted among predominantly white populations, with little representation of African Americans.1-14 Thus, little is known about risk factors for diabetic retinopathy and its severity in this ethnic group.Keywords
