Abstract
The skull and the jaw adductor musculature are analysed in a number of representatives of the Ethiopian scincomorph lizard genera Acontias, Typhlosaurus and Feylinia. Acontias and Typhlosaurus are closely related and are to be included in a single taxon, the Acontinae, provisionally classified as a subfamily of the Scincidae. The family Feyliniidae (including the genera Feylinia and Chabanaudia) is revalidated and an amended diagnosis is given, The Feyliniidae are a scincomorph family, possibly with gekkotan affinities.
