Abstract
Similar in design to radioimmunoassay, comparable in sensitivity and specificity but easier, safer, and less expensive, this new diagnostic technique uses enzyme-labeled rather than isotope-labeled reagents. The end point is a color change that can be assessed by colorimetry or with the naked eye. Various techniques of ELISA are described, along with examples of current and potential clinical applications. Keywords
