Abstract
The proton N.M.R. spectrum of norbornadiene partially oriented in the nematic solvent, Merck Phase (IV), has been measured and compared with an earlier study using EBBA as solvent. It is shown that the structure of the proton framework is significantly different in the two nematogens. Vibrational averaging of the dipolar couplings is carried out in order that effective rz structures can be compared. Keywords
