Abstract
The path-averaged soliton validity domain without soliton control is evaluated by means of soliton interaction and jitter evaluations. It is shown that this domain is larger than expected and allows a 40 Gbit/s soliton transmission over 1000 km with 100 km amplifier spacing. Keywords
