Abstract
The absence of any detectable daughter activity in a sample of curium containing two micrograms of indicates that the alpha half-life of exceeds 4× years and probably exceeds 9× years. The possibilities of finding in nature and of finding high : ratios in very old rare-earth minerals are discussed.
