Rotational Level Structure inO16

A recent determination of the branching ratio (6.92 → 6.05)/(6.92 → 0) in ${\mathrm{O}}^{16}$ has previously been used to demonstrate that the ground state retains approximately an 11% deformed character. By assuming that the $J^{\pi }=2+ \mathrm{and} 4+$ levels at 6.92 and 10.36 MeV adhere strictly to a rotational relationship, an independent estimate of this admixture is obtained. Agreement is found to be excellent.
